About the role:

This new and exciting role has been created due to the expansion of a well known not for profit organisation. They value collaborating and sharing their knowledge through medical and university formal partnerships and their broader community to make a real difference in the world. They are based in a small number of sites in Melbourne's inner suburbs, and describe their team as genuinely good people, working closely to succeed in medical research innovation, and a flexible working environment.

The WHS and Facilities Adviser is responsible for ensuring that key infrastructure and facilities projects are planned for and delivered, developing and maintaining the Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Management System, and that day-to-day accommodation and equipment requirements are met.

Other key aspects of this role will see you:

  • Develop the annual WHS plan, monitor performance and provide progress reports for Executive and Board meetings

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to managers, staff and students to ensure they understand their WHS responsibilities and can effectively manage risks

  • Manage onboarding and off-boarding procedures related to WHS and accommodation

  • Develop and maintain positive and professional working relationships with WHS staff

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have ideally have:

  • Demonstrated sound understanding of legislative and regulatory compliance requirements relevant to WHS and facilities management.

  • Demonstrated experience of implementing and maintaining auditable WHS Management Systems -

  • Excellent report and technical writing skills

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent level of expertise gained through substantial relevant experience.

Highly regarded:

  • Previous experience working in a medical research or health service environment
