The Company

A large and well known retail/distribution company has exclusively engaged Safesearch to source a National Health and Safety Manager role. They are a growing company that have survived well during the Covid-19 Health pandemic - due to their responsiveness and financial stability.

They have a great operating model and a team that can deliver on their optimistic ambitions.

This is a company committed to the Safety and Wellbeing of their sizable team across the country and have some exciting initiatives and programs for this role to lead.

The Opportunity

Leading a small (high performing) team to deliver on the Health and Safety operational strategy, you will lead the further development and roll out of initiatives and programs. This will build the capability and understanding of the entire team, enable everyone to take responsibility for the health and safety of the team.

The role is a great mix of working and influencing at senior leadership levels, while not ever being too far away from the front lines of operation.

The Person

Key to this role will be your ability to understand the key priorities and make good decisions as to how/where to spend your energies and time. You will need to demonstrate your key decision making ability in a similar lead role.

Also really key will be the right aptitude to be able to building relationships through consistency, communication, and delivery on what you say you are going to do. This is important for your internal client group, your HSE Team members and all stakeholders. (previous experience working with unions will be highly regarded)

Technical ability and a strong ability to deliver pragmatic solutions will, of course, be key.


Highly regarded:

  • Good level of exposure to Safety Management Systems
  • Facilitation skills for learning and development opportunities

Tertiary qualifications in Safety (or similar) will be essential, a minimum Diploma of OHS.
