The opportunity:

Safesearch is currently working exclusively with leading independent medical research organisation. A brand-new position has been created for a full-time Workplace Health and Safety coordinator to join their passionate team located in the eastern suburbs of Sydney.

The role:

Reporting directly to the Administration and Compliance Manager, you will require to provide support and developing meaningful and productive relationships with all internal stakeholders, promoting safety policies and procedures to ensure safety, health, and wellbeing environment.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Inspecting the facilities, preparing, and presenting reports, conducting audits, monitoring, and reviewing safety management systems and programs

  • Strong understanding of Dangerous Goods, Hazardous Substances and Globally Harmonised System of Classification

  • Understanding of Safety Management System requirements and ability to establish its integration and monitor its effectiveness

  • WHS induction training for staff, contractors, and visitors

The Successful Applicant:

  • Relevant degree in WHS with substantial experience or equivalent competency gained through relevant education, training and/or experience

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to exercise judgment

  • Strong client service focus with the ability to motivate others, and to work independently or as part of a team

  • Experience in WHS and related practices in a research environment and extensive knowledge and ability to assist in the implementation of WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and relevant Australian Standards related to the research environment
