Your Opportunity

Our client has the best of both worlds. They are supported by the ownership and financial/operational oversight from their European owners providing stability and best practice across the globe. But within Australia they have a medium sized team spread that are genuinely connected to each other and treated much like a big family. They are spread across multiple sites from Queensland through to Tasmania - including manufacturing, processing and logistics sites.

In this size of company, each role matters. There is reward and recognition for a job well done, a more personalised approach (I'm sure we could all do with a bit of this at the moment). This provides a great context for a Coordinator-level role, providing significant scope for supported growth, both on the job, support for further qualifications and other growth opportunities including your direct manager, who will be a wonderful mentor.

The Role

A role as a WHS Coordinator will support the WHS Manager in ensuring all aspects of Health, Safety and Wellbeing across the company. This will include consolidating the foundations of Health and Safety across all parts of the business. No two days will be the same as you will be providing advice, developing/reviewing policy and procedures, developing the Safety Management System, investigating incidents and injuries and more. This will include safety alerts, toolbox presentations, document libraries and similar.

Over time you will get the opportunity to travel to key sites across the business to build relationships and respond to business needs - probably once/quarter.

You will also have the opportunity to be a part of positive change and simplification within the business - they have a good appetite for positive ideas that are proposed to help the business do things better and easier.

The Person

To be successful in this role, the number one attribute is your attitude. A can do attitude and being prepared to show initiative to respond to the opportunities and projects that are presented.

A strong focus on learning and growth will enable you to support the business more effectively over time.

There is a general "all hands on deck" approach across the entire business where people in roles at all levels don't feel like they are "above" doing a certain part of the role.

A Certificate IV in Health and Safety will give you some background for this role, but more likely a Diploma of OHS.

The company is open minded as to background, but might come from one of three current situations:

  1. An early-career Health and Safety administrator/coordinator that is poised to take their next step
  2. An IM/RTW Coordinator that has an interest in transitioning into a Health and Safety role. You will probably already have worked closely with a Health and Safety function
  3. An HSR who has been taking on more and more responsibility when working with the team, legislation, SWMS, policy etc

Above all, you will be open minded and engaging personality - must be keen to build good working relationships - and effective verbal and written communication skills.

The Rewards
This role offers an exciting opportunity for an early career safety professional to work within and learn from a wonderful HSE and operations team. This role will help set up your career in Workplace Health and Safety!
