This company is a stable and secure company - providing critical services for everyday Australians. And they need you to come and refresh their HSW strategy. To join the dots. To consult. To review and recommend. And then to deliver throughout the organisation - and it's multiple sites across Australia.
The company has a range of key stakeholders across the country, including a mix of government, industry and other partners.
This role provides critical leadership for the company in all areas of Health, Safety and Wellbeing (and some Environment) across their workforce and contractors. It's fair to say that part of your initial opportunity come in shaping the HSW Strategy, through a mix of review, consultation, and understanding the opportunities. You could be involved in some "education" of the company, when it comes to knowing what "good" looks like. This will be through working alongside an excellent (and experienced) HR Director.
This company isn't looking for a plug and play option - it needs to be fit for purpose, understanding what their critical risks are, and developing a pathway through to a more mature state. You will be able to influence decisions and implementation around KPI's, engagement with business units, Safety Management System, reporting and communication, and ensuring HSW is more visible.
Working closely with key stakeholders across operations, senior leaders, HR and legal - this role's success will be contingent on bringing your subject matter expertise and ensuring pragmatic solutions. This leads to a fast paced and varied work schedule - and will require a Health and Safety professional who is comfortable working in both the strategic/abstract and detailed (day to day).
The Person
To be successful you must demonstrate ability/experience with:
- Developing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to be able to affect positive change
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage multiple stakeholders and community stakeholder groups. This includes excellent written skills.
- Have the humility and attention to detail of working through operational solutions
- A strong understanding of the regulatory environment relevant to Health & Safety right across Australia (multiple jurisdictions)
- Degree qualified (Minimum) is a must, and if not a Safety qualification, then a Diploma level in OHS/WHS/Safety
- Exposure to a breadth of industries will be highly regarded - including a white collar environments
- Maximising a safety management system for ease of use, reporting and transparency
- Professional report writing and presentation skills
